What to expect
Java is the world’s most populous island, home to 140 million people. Sitting at the epicentre of the Archipelago, this is the beating heart of business and the cultural soul of the nation. Java is a long strip of an island running from Sumatra in the West, to Bali in the East; splitting the Java Sea and the Indian Ocean with a rugged landmass along the ring of fire. A powerhouse on the modern stage, Java traces its influence back through the centuries in its artistry, traditions and architecture. This is a land of fire, stone and spices; home to volcanoes, palaces and Hindu-Buddhist relics that have witnessed the rise and fall of ancient civilizations, sultanates and empires.
